Despite not boasting a cabinet full of trophies, former Super Eagles midfielder Austin "Jay Jay" Okocha finds fulfilment in the strong legacy he's built in football, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Renowned for his flair and skill, Okocha remains one of the most iconic midfielders in Nigerian and African football history.

In a recent chat with OmaSports, the former Bolton Wanderers star expressed his pride in being remembered for his unique style and influence on the game.

“For me, the most important thing is to be remembered for an identity,” Okocha said.

“Honestly, I may not have won many trophies, but I won hearts—and for me, that’s golden. I don’t compare myself to anyone because I know where I started and what I achieved. I’m grateful for everything football has given me.”

Okocha was part of Nigeria’s triumphant 1994 Africa Cup of Nations squad and played a key role in the country's historic gold medal win at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
