Sunshine Stars defender and captain, Sunday Abe has announced his retirement from football, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Abe announced his retirement at a news conference on Wednesday in Akure. He explained that he was retiring after thoughtful consideration of playing active football for about two decades. Abe made his NPFL debut in 2006, and he featured in 17 seasons in the NPFL. He also featured for the Nigeria National U17, U20, U23 and CHAN Eagles teams.
