Sunday Dare Pays Tribute to Late President Muhammadu Buhari, Hails His Legacy of Discipline and Integrity

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare, has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s late President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a towering symbol of integrity, discipline, and selfless leadership whose legacy will remain etched in the nation's history.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) following the passing of the former president, Dare described Buhari as "a study in discipline, transparency, commitment and probity," underscoring the values that defined his public service. “Muhammadu Buhari (1942–2025). Adieu!

In life, just as in death, he towers. Nigeria’s late President Muhammadu Buhari is a study in discipline, transparency, commitment and probity. His exit heralds the loss of a moral compass. He was a leader in every sense of the word. He served Nigeria meritoriously. His sincerity, simplicity and seminality are unmistakable,” Dare wrote.

The former minister, who served in Buhari’s cabinet from 2019 to 2023, praised the late leader's unwavering commitment to national service, noting that his style of leadership left an indelible mark on the country’s political and moral landscape. “Rest on, Soldier. Your duty is done. Your legacy abides. Fare thee well!” Dare concluded in his tribute.

During Buhari's administration, Dare spearheaded significant reforms in Nigeria's youth and sports sector, many of which he credited to the support and leadership style of the late president. He often cited Buhari’s encouragement as instrumental in implementing structural reforms and youth-focused programs.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who died at the age of 83, served as Nigeria’s military Head of State between 1983 and 1985, and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023. Known for his austere lifestyle and anti-corruption stance, Buhari was both revered and critiqued for his unyielding approach to governance.
