Sunshine Stars Retain NPFL Status After Beating Doma United

By Admin

Sunshine Stars have escaped playing in the second tier of Nigerian League (NNL) next season after compounded Doma United woes with a 1-0 victory in a rescheduled game.

The Nigeria Premier Football League match was postponed following accident the Northern team encountered while traveling on the road for the match.

Yusuf Ibrahim scored the only goal for the Owena Waves seven minutes before the break.

With the win, Sunshine Stars moved to 10th position on the Nigeria Premier Football League table with 52 points from 37 games

Doma United, meanwhile, remain in 18th position and are almost as good as relegated to the Nigeria National League, NNL.

The Savannah Tigers have recorded just one win from their last 18 league games.

The final games of the 2023–24 season will be played on Sunday.
