Former Nigeria international Ogenyi Onazi has completed a move to Lithuanian second-tier side FK Babrungas, as the club looks to strengthen its squad for the ongoing I Lyga campaign, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 33-year-old midfielder joins from Italian lower-division outfit SSD Città di Acireale and will wear the number 23 shirt in his new stint. His arrival adds valuable experience to a team aiming to boost its competitiveness this season.

Onazi is no stranger to Lithuanian football, having previously featured for FK Žalgiris earlier in his career. His return to familiar territory presents an opportunity to stabilise a well-travelled career that has spanned multiple leagues across Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

He first rose to prominence at S.S. Lazio, where he was part of the squad that won the Coppa Italia 2013. His club career has also included spells with Trabzonspor and Denizlispor, in addition to stints in Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United States.

On the international stage, Onazi was a regular for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, representing the country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and playing a key role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

FK Babrungas will be counting on his experience and leadership qualities as they seek to reinforce their midfield, with expectations that he will provide both composure and physical presence in the centre of the pitch.
