Super Eagles Attacker Faces Contract Termination

German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen are considering terminating the loan deal of Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Boniface has endured a difficult spell since joining Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, following the collapse of a proposed move to Italian giants AC Milan. 

The Nigerian forward has struggled to make an impact at the club, failing to find the back of the net so far this season.

Speaking after Werder Bremen’s recent match against Augsburg, the club’s Sporting Director, Clemens Fritz, admitted that Boniface’s future remains uncertain. 

According to Deichstube, Fritz revealed that the player is currently sidelined with injury and discussions are ongoing with Leverkusen’s medical team.

“Victor is injured at the moment and we are in contact with the Leverkusen doctors. 

We want to let it calm down a bit for now,” Fritz said. “He’ll switch off for a few days, but then we’ll have to see how it develops.

“After that, however, the topic of his sporting future could well be on the table.”

Boniface has managed only two assists in all competitions for Werder Bremen this season and is yet to score a goal, a situation that has fueled speculation about an early end to his loan spell.
