Super Eagles Camp Swells to 26 as Five More Players Join Ahead of CHAN 2025

Five additional players have joined the home-based Super Eagles camp in Ikenne as preparations continue for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, confirmed the new arrivals on Tuesday. The players include Musa Zayad (El-Kanemi Warriors), Aminu Adam (Kano Pillars), Anas Yusuf (Nasarawa United), Godwin Obaje (Rivers United), and Kabiru Mohammed (Kwara United).

Their inclusion brings the total number of players in camp to 26.

Efoghe also reported that all 26 players took part in Tuesday evening’s training session, which was overseen by head coach Eric Chelle.

The home-based squad is in intensive training as they aim to secure a strong outing at the regional tournament, which showcases talent from domestic leagues across Africa.

Nigeria secured qualification for the 2025 CHAN after edging out regional rivals Ghana, earning a return to the tournament following three consecutive absences.

Drawn into Group D, the Super Eagles will face formidable opponents including Congo, Senegal, and Sudan. Nigeria’s opening match will be against Senegal on August 5.

The 2025 CHAN tournament, jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Morocco, will kick off on August 2. Hosts Tanzania will open the competition against Burkina Faso. On August 3, Kenya will play DR Congo, while Morocco will face Angola and Madagascar take on Mauritania.
