Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal Dare, has hosted the Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Éric Sékou Chelle, at the Government House in Gusau, as part of efforts to advance sports development and youth engagement in the state, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, was disclosed by the governor in a media post, where he described the engagement as both pleasant and productive. Governor Lawal praised Coach Chelle as a distinguished sportsperson and noted that the meeting provided an opportunity for in-depth discussions on leveraging sports to support Zamfara State’s broader development objectives.

According to the governor, discussions centered on strategies for engaging young people in active sports participation across multiple disciplines, particularly in anticipation of the forthcoming inauguration of the state’s revamped stadium and sports complex.

Governor Lawal emphasized the role of sports as a critical tool for youth empowerment, talent discovery, social inclusion, and unity. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to investing in sports infrastructure and programs designed to nurture grassroots talent and promote healthy lifestyles among young people.

The governor further expressed confidence that sustained collaboration with national sports figures and institutions would significantly enhance grassroots sports development and create new opportunities for Zamfara’s youth.
