Super Eagles Defender Ogbu Eyes Champions League Debut After New Slavia Prague Deal
Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria's Igoh Ogbu has revealed his desire to play in the UEFA Champions League as a key reason behind his decision to extend his stay with Czech giants Slavia Prague until 2027, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 25-year-old centre-back, who has been a standout performer since joining from Norwegian club Lillestrøm in January 2023, attracted interest from several European clubs but chose to remain with Slavia, where he feels settled and focused on his long-term goals.
Speaking to the club’s media, Ogbu emphasised that staying with Slavia offers him the right environment to grow while pursuing his ambition of playing at the highest level in European football.
“Extending my contract was the best decision for me,” he said.
“I understand the system and philosophy here, which gives me confidence. And I’ll also get the chance to play in the Champions League, which has always been my dream.”
Ogbu made 34 appearances for Slavia Prague last season across all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist, as he continues to establish himself as a key figure for both club and country.
