Super Eagles Defender Praises Okoye’s Heroics Against Russia

Russia-based Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu has praised goalkeeper Maduka Okoye for his outstanding performance in Nigeria’s match against Russia, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Okoye, who plays for Udinese, was instrumental in keeping the Super Eagles in the game, making a series of crucial saves that prevented a Russian victory.

Speaking to Match TV, Idowu acknowledged that Russia were the better side on the day but credited Okoye’s brilliance for keeping Nigeria in contention.

"I think Russia played better and probably deserved the win more,” Idowu said.

“They had more scoring chances, but their finishing let them down. Maduka Okoye made some excellent saves and really bailed us out.”

Idowu also noted that the match featured intense moments and some heated exchanges toward the end.
