Despite the club's inability to win their last two games, Primera Liga club Boavista has nominated Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem for the Player of the Month award, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Awaziem returned to Boavista this summer after having a successful loan spell with Croatian Premier League side Hajduk Split.

Since his return, he has been rock solid in the backline of the Portuguese side.

The Super Eagles defender’s outstanding display has been recognised with the player nominated for the Player of the Month Award for last month.

Awaziem faces a tough fight from midfielder Sebastian Perez and striker Robert Bozenik as well for the coveted gong.

Boavista currently sits in sixth place on the Portugal Liga table with 15 points after nine games.
