Super Eagles have received a significant financial windfall after qualifying for the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

By reaching the last eight, the Super Eagles are guaranteed a prize of $1.3 million from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). At current exchange rates, the amount is valued at nearly ₦2 billion, underscoring the financial rewards tied to the team’s strong performance at the tournament.

CAF, in a statement published on its official website, outlined the revised prize structure for the competition. According to the governing body, the winner of the 2025 AFCON will earn $7 million, while the runner-up will receive $4 million. Each of the two losing semifinalists will pocket $2.5 million, and every quarterfinalist is assured $1.3 million.

In addition to the CAF prize money, the Super Eagles earned performance bonuses tied to goals scored in their second-round match on Monday. The team received $10,000 for each goal, further boosting their earnings.

Victor Osimhen scored twice, while Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams each found the net once, completing an emphatic victory. The four goals earned Nigeria an additional $40,000, equivalent to approximately ₦57 million.

The Super Eagles will now await the outcome of Tuesday’s encounter between Algeria and DR Congo to determine their quarterfinal opponent.
