Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have finished the year ranked 38th in the world, according to the final FIFA Men’s Rankings for 2025 released on Monday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The ranking also confirms Nigeria’s status as the fifth-best national team in Africa at the end of the year.
On the continent, the Super Eagles trail the Atlas Lions of Morocco, Teranga Lions of Senegal, Desert Foxes of Algeria, and the Pharaohs of Egypt, all of whom are ranked above Nigeria.
Despite the modest global position, Eric Chelle’s side will be aiming for a significant rise in the rankings with a strong performance at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
FIFA has confirmed that the next update of the men’s world rankings will be released on January 19, 2026, giving the Super Eagles an opportunity to improve their standing based on their AFCON campaign.
