Nigeria international Cyril Dessers has reflected on his departure from Scottish giants Rangers F.C. following a challenging spell at the club, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Dessers, who now plays for Greek side Panathinaikos F.C., scored 22 goals and registered seven assists in 54 appearances during his first season with Rangers.
The Super Eagles forward also revealed that an injury sustained in the Scottish Cup final complicated an already difficult summer period, despite what he believed was a strong individual campaign.
Speaking, Dessers said he felt he had done enough to establish himself as the club’s first-choice striker for the following season.
“I got injured in the Scottish Cup final. But I remember that summer, I went home and thought, ‘22 goals. I fought back from a situation where I was almost dead and buried.
"I thought I showed that at least I deserved the chance to be the number one striker for Rangers in the next season,’” Dessers said.
The Nigerian striker eventually moved on from the club and is now continuing his career in Greece with Panathinaikos.
