Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Cyriel Dessers has been awarded the Golden Boot after emerging the highest goal scorer in the Uefa Conference League, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Dessers was in blistering and best form of his life in the current campaign for Netherland's Eredivisie giant Feyenoord Rotterdam across all competitions having been superbly outstanding since kick-starting his loan spell at the club.
The Nigerian international after falling out of favour with Belgian Pro-League giant, KRC Genk made a loan move to Feyenoord Rotterdam in the last summer transfer window and has been remarkably incredible since making his debut for the team where he has been scoring goals for fun and firing from all cylinders despite not having a guaranteed starting role in the team.
His great influx of delivery in European competition this season was massive having been making waves in the UEFA Europa Conference League where he has scored fantastic goals which helped his team enroute to making it to the inaugural final of the competition in it's maiden season.
The Super Eagles forward in the competition made history by becoming the first player ever to reach double figures of goal (10) going into the final which was played today, thereby placing him one goal ahead of former Chelsea star and England international Tammy Abraham who scored 9 for Jose Mourinho's AS Roma side.
However, the final of the competition ended in favour of AS Roma with the only goal scored by Nicolo Zaniolo in the 32nd minute of the game been enough to separate the two sides at full time.
With this, Cyriel Dessers was able to maintain his stand as the leading top goalscorer in the competition with 10 goals which as a result made him the first ever Nigerian to win European Golden Boot.
