Super Eagles Goalkeeper Denies Match-Fixing Allegations After Suspension
By Admin
Goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has strongly denied allegations of match-fixing following his temporary suspension by Singida Black Stars SC, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The suspension came after the club raised concerns over goals conceded in a CAF Confederation Cup fixture against Flambeau du Centre FC and a domestic league match against Namungo FC.
Obasogie, who has represented Nigeria at international level, acknowledged responsibility for his performances but firmly rejected any suggestion of wrongdoing. He described the errors as genuine mistakes rather than deliberate actions.
“I understand match-fixing is a serious allegation, and I would never risk my reputation, career or integrity,” he said.
The goalkeeper confirmed his willingness to appear before a disciplinary committee to address the claims and expressed confidence that he will clear his name.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Obasogie reiterated his commitment to Singida Black Stars, emphasizing the importance of the club to his career.
“I remain committed to serving the club with honour and contributing to its success,” he added, urging supporters and stakeholders not to conflate on-field errors with allegations of match manipulation.
