Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon are set to link up with the Nigerian national team in Fez, Morocco, after failing to arrive with the rest of the squad in Cairo on Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Head coach Eric Chelle has granted permission for the Galatasaray striker and Paris FC winger to fly directly to Morocco, where the team will continue preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Nigeria are currently in Cairo, where they suffered a 2–1 defeat to Egypt on Tuesday night in a pre-AFCON friendly at the Cairo International Stadium. The match formed part of the Super Eagles’ build-up to the tournament, which kicks off on Saturday, 21 December 2025.
A total of 26 players are presently in camp under Chelle’s supervision. Recent arrivals include Samuel Chukwueze, Chidozie Awaziem, Usman Mohammed, and newly invited defender Salim Fago.
According to the team’s preparation schedule for Wednesday, the Super Eagles will begin the day with a recovery session at the gym at 11:00 a.m., followed by a tactical training session scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
Nigeria, three-time AFCON champions, have been drawn in Group C, alongside Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda. The Super Eagles will open their campaign against Tanzania on 23 December, before facing Tunisia four days later. Their final group match is slated for 31 December against Uganda.
With the arrival of Osimhen and Moses Simon expected in Morocco, the Super Eagles’ technical crew will hope to achieve full squad strength as preparations intensify ahead of their AFCON opener.
