Super Eagles Maintain FIFA Ranking Despite Mixed International Results

Super Eagles have maintained their 26th position in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings released on Thursday by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The three-time African champions remained unchanged in the global standings despite a series of mixed results during the ranking period.

Nigeria recorded notable victories over Zimbabwe and Jamaica, defeating the Warriors 2-0 before securing a 3-0 win against the Reggae Boyz to successfully defend their Unity Cup title in England.

The Super Eagles also featured in two international friendlies in June. They began the month with a 2-2 draw against Poland in Warsaw before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Portugal in Lisbon on Wednesday.

Despite their performances, Nigeria did not gain any places in the latest rankings. However, the West Africans retained their position as the third-highest ranked team on the continent, behind Morocco and Senegal.

Algeria and Egypt complete Africa’s top five-ranked national teams.

At the global level, world champions Argentina remain at the summit of the rankings, ahead of Spain, France, England and Portugal, with the top five positions unchanged.

FIFA announced that the next edition of the Men’s World Rankings will be published on July 20, 2026.
