Injured Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has returned to action for his Spanish second-division club SD Ponferradina, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The skilful midfielder has been out of action in the last three weeks due to the injury he sustained in a league match in early December 2022.

Ponferradina hosted Villareal B team on Friday in match day 22 of the league and secured a 2-1 win in the encounter.

Lozano put the away side ahead in the 45th minute before Hugo Vallejo equalised for the host in the 57th minute.

Nwakali was introduced into the game in the 59th minute for Erik Moran and his inclusion brought stability to the already shaken Ponferadina's midfield.

Jose Amo finally sealed the game with the 81st-minute strike to hand the host a valuable 3 points.
