Super Eagles Midfielder To Undergo Tests After Derby Injury

Super Eagles star Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will undergo medical examinations to determine the extent of the injury he picked up in Lazio’s Serie A derby against AS Roma on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 24-year-old midfielder started the Derby della Capitale under manager Maurizio Sarri but lasted only 14 minutes before being replaced by Reda Belahyane after suffering a suspected thigh problem.

According to Il Messaggero via La Lazio Siamo Noi, Dele-Bashiru had already missed Friday’s training session with a muscle complaint, but was eventually cleared to feature following a late decision from the technical staff.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Nigerian will now undergo tests to assess the severity of the injury.

Should he be sidelined, Belahyane is expected to step in for Lazio’s next league match against Genoa on Monday.

Sunday’s derby appearance was Dele-Bashiru’s fourth consecutive outing of the season.
