Super Eagles Missed Services Of Osimhen, Others Against Mexico And Ecuador- Pinnick
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick has given the Super Eagles a thumbs up despite missing the services of Victor Osimhen and other top stars in two recent defeats against Mexico and Ecuador, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The AFCON 2013 champions who concluded its tour of the United States of America in the wee hours of Friday with a loss to Ecuador at the 25,000–capacity Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.
Pervis Estupiñán early goal was enough for the Ecuadorians to record their first win against Nigeria in tune-up match.
Pinnick said after the game, "I am happy and I can tell you that we fulfilled our objectives of restoring the spirit of the Super Eagles following the failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
"We lost both games against Mexico and Ecuador narrowly but we were up for it and never finished on the back foot. Given the number of first-team players that were not available, we have to praise the boys who showed up here and gave their all.
It was two games, two defeats for Portuguese born Jose Peseiro as Super Eagles coach after Nigeria lost 2-1 to Mexico and 1-0 Ecuador.
Up next for Peseiro is the 2023 AFCON qualifiers as the Super Eagles tackle the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on June 9th and Sao Tome and Principe on June 13th.
