Super Eagles Player Ratings as Nigeria Defeat Egypt to Claim Bronze
By Niyi Busari
Super Eagles secured the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Nations Cup in Morocco after edging Egypt 4-2 in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw at the end of regulation time, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
After both sides failed to break the deadlock in 90 minutes, Nigeria showed greater composure from the spot, converting four of their penalties, while Egypt managed only two after missing their opening attempts.
Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was the standout performer on the night and was deservedly named Man of the Match. The shot-stopper saved two Egyptian penalties, playing a decisive role in Nigeria’s victory and helping the team redeem itself after a heartbreaking 4-2 penalty shootout defeat to hosts Morocco in the semi-final, a result that ended their hopes of reaching the final despite being pre-tournament favourites.
