Super Eagles Star Boniface Ruled Out Of The Season

Super Eagles and Werder Bremen striker Victor Boniface has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injury, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian international has been sidelined for the past few months after sustaining an injury that has kept him out of competitive action.

Although the lanky forward has commenced his rehabilitation programme, the Bundesliga side confirmed on Wednesday that he will not return to action before the end of the current campaign.

Providing an update on his condition, Clemens Fritz Niemeyer told DeichStube that the club remains encouraged by the player’s recovery process but admitted that a return this season is unlikely.

“He’s completing his rehab in Leverkusen, and we’re happy about every bit of progress. But it’s still impossible to predict how quickly he’ll be fully fit again,” Niemeyer said.

“Due to the rehabilitation process, we don’t expect Victor to play for Werder again this season.”

Boniface’s absence is a significant blow for Bremen as they continue their push in the closing stages of the campaign, while the Super Eagles will also be monitoring his recovery ahead of upcoming international engagements.
