Fulham midfielder and Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has drawn attention to the substandard conditions of the hotel where Nigeria’s national team is reportedly lodged ahead of the 2025 CAF World Cup playoffs in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Iwobi, one of the early arrivals to the Super Eagles camp in Sunday, shared a short video highlighting the hotel’s poor facilities. The clip, obtained by BSN Sports, showed both the exterior and interior of the accommodation, with visible signs of dilapidated and unkempt environment. Although Iwobi made no verbal comment, his silent footage conveyed clear dissatisfaction with the team’s lodging arrangements.

As per FIFA rule, CAF is in charge for booking hotels for all the participating teams.

Observers are asking questions to why CAF booked the 4-Star Rive Hôtel, on Avenue D'alger, 1 Rue Tindouf, Quartier Hassan, Rabat for Nigeria players.

Nigeria is among four African nations, alongside; Cameroon, DR Congo, and Gabon that qualified for the World Cup playoffs. The mini-tournament will take place from November 13 to 16, 2025, in Morocco.

The Super Eagles are set to face Gabon in the semifinal on Thursday, November 13. The winner of that tie will advance to the final to meet either Cameroon or DR Congo. The overall champion will go on to represent Africa in the FIFA Intercontinental Playoff scheduled to be held in Mexico in March 2026.
