Super Eagles Striker Delivers Again in Valencia’s Crucial Win

By BSN Sports

Nigeria international Sadiq Umar produced a match-winning display for Valencia, scoring the decisive goal in a 2–1 victory over Girona at the Estadio de Mestalla on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Fresh from finding the net in Valencia’s previous league outing against Mallorca, the Super Eagles striker retained his place in the starting lineup, with head coach Carlos Corberan placing his trust in the forward for a crucial La Liga encounter between two sides seeking to secure their top-flight status.

Valencia began brightly, dominating possession and creating the more promising chances in the opening exchanges. Sadiq came close to opening the scoring in the 19th minute, but his effort drifted narrowly wide after he found space inside the penalty area.

Despite sustained pressure and attacking intent, the hosts were unable to convert their chances before the interval, as the first half ended goalless.

The breakthrough eventually arrived early in the second half when Largie Ramazani finished calmly following a well-constructed move involving Javi Guerra.

Valencia extended their lead shortly afterwards, with Sadiq rising highest in the box to head home and give his side a crucial advantage.

Girona responded in the 63rd minute through Joel Roca, setting up a tense conclusion to the contest.

Sadiq was later substituted, with Hugo Duro introduced as Valencia looked to preserve their lead. The hosts withstood late pressure to secure all three points.

The victory lifts Valencia to 11th place in the La Liga standings with 39 points from 33 matches, strengthening their position in the battle to avoid relegation.
