Super Falcons Coach Justin Madugu lifting the WAFCON trophy
Super Falcons: Why Madugu’s Permanent Appointment Pending - NFF
By Niyi Busari
The Nigeria Football Federation will soon announce the official confirmation of Justin Madugu as the substantive head coach of the Super Falcons, following his successful spell in interim charge, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Madugu guided the senior women’s national team to their 10th Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) title after a hard-fought 3–2 victory over hosts Morocco in the final. His impressive leadership during the tournament also earned him the Best Coach Award, further strengthening calls for his permanent appointment.
Despite the widespread expectation, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to officially seal a permanent deal. The decision rests with the NFF Technical Committee, chaired by Kano State Football Association Chairman, Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan.
A senior NFF official, speaking with BSN Sports Nigeria in Abuja on Thursday, assured that Madugu’s confirmation will be finalized soon.
“Coach Madugu will be announced as the substantive head coach as soon as all pending issues are resolved. The responsibility lies solely with the Technical Committee,” the official explained.
Following his feat at the 2024 WAFCON, Justin Madugu was nominated for Ballon D'ior award.
With the Falcons’ next international engagements on the horizon, stakeholders and fans alike are eager to see continuity in leadership for the reigning African champions.
