Super Falcons Climbs One Spot in Latest FIFA Women’s Rankings
By BSN Sports
Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have moved up one place to 36th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The slight rise comes despite the team’s limited activity during the ranking period, having missed one of the international windows under review. In the previous rankings published in December 2025, Nigeria occupied the 37th position globally.
During the period in focus, the Falcons played a two-match friendly series against Cameroon women's national football team in March. They lost the opening encounter before bouncing back to secure victory in the return fixture a few days later.
Nigeria continues to maintain its status as Africa’s top-ranked team, sitting more than 20 places ahead of South Africa women's national football team, who are ranked 58th in the world. Ghana women's national football team, Morocco women's national football team, and Zambia women's national football team complete the top five teams on the continent.
At the global level, Spain women's national football team retain the number one spot, followed by the United States women's national soccer team. England women's national football team have climbed to third place, overtaking Germany women's national football team, while Japan women's national football team moved up to fifth after surpassing Sweden women's national football team, France women's national football team, and Brazil women's national football team.
The next FIFA Women’s World Rankings update is scheduled for release on June 16.
