Super Falcons Consider Boycott of December FIFA Window Over Unpaid Entitlements

The Super Falcons are considering boycotting next month’s FIFA international window unless the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) settles all outstanding bonuses and allowances owed since the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, according to a report published by The Punch on Monday, November 24, 2025.

Sources within the team confirmed on Sunday that players are still awaiting payment of match bonuses, camp allowances, and winning bonuses dating back to their participation at the Olympics, where Nigeria exited in the group stage after losses to Brazil, Spain, and Japan.

A senior squad member, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the players had unanimously agreed not to honour any national team call-up until the arrears are cleared.

“We have been patient for too long. The money is our right, and we cannot keep accepting promises,” the player told reporters in Abuja.

The December FIFA window scheduled for December 2 to 10 is expected to include friendly matches as part of the Super Falcons’ preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. However, the NFF has not released a provisional squad list or announced any confirmed fixtures.

This is not the first time the nine-time African champions have threatened industrial action over unpaid entitlements. During the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia, the players staged a sit-in protest at their hotel before some of the pending allowances were partially paid.

NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, acknowledged the players’ concerns on Sunday, confirming ongoing discussions with the National Sports Commission to resolve the financial dispute before the window opens.

Team captain Rasheedat Ajibade and vice-captain Osinachi Ohale have reportedly briefed interim head coach Justin Madugu appointed in October following the departure of American coach Randy Waldrum on the players’ stance.

As of Monday night, neither the team nor their representatives had released an official statement, and the planned training camp expected to open next week remains in doubt.
