It was a day to forget for Nigeria's Super Falcons and Houston Dash defender Michelle Alozie as she was sent off in the club defeat to San Diego Wave in a women's league game in the United States, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Alozie who was one of the key players for the Super Falcons in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup was sent off just before halftime for a dangerous play.

The Nigerian international has been a key performer for the club this season playing in various positions and appearing in most matches.

Her sent-off immediately took effect on the team as they suffered a 1-0 loss to the San Diego Wave.

The defeat dropped Houston Dash to the 10th position on the 12-team table with 20 points in 14 games.

Alozie has scored twice in 18 games for the Houston Dash this season.
