As the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup countdown to a fortnight, Super Falcons group opponents Canada Women's national football team, continue to endure uncertainties around their preparations, as the Nigeria team isn't alone in lingering internal disputes. BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The ninth edition of the women's Mundial is set to take center stage in 14 days in Australia and New Zealand but leaves a few teams battling disputes which may mar performances on the world stage when the games begin.

Back in February this year, the Canadian players threatened to strike ahead of the SheBelieves Cup due to budget cuts from the Canada Soccer Federation, as the latter responded with their share of threats to sue the players if they boycotted the tournament.

Although they played the tournament while protesting, the players warned there would be future protests if demands for balanced pay were not met.

According to The Mirror, players were merely asking for the long, overdrawn pay dispute to conclude before the Olympic Champions jetted out to Australia and New Zealand for better preparations and full focus toward positive results at the World Cup.

Like Les Rouges of Canada, the Super Falcons of Nigeria had their fair share of disagreement when head Coach - Randy Waldrum broke his silence on his frustration with the Nigeria Football Federation, days before the team's departure to Australia, setting a tone for a possible disgruntled outing between the teams opening Group B on the 21st of July.

As the Super Falcons make their ninth appearance having been to all editions since 1991, their Group B opponents - Canada will make their eighth, having missed only the inaugural 1991 tournament, with both teams meeting only for the third time on the World's stage.
