Super Falcons To Face Ghana in Final WAFCON Warm-Up Match

Nigeria's Super Falcons will conclude their preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with an international friendly against Ghana's Black Queens in Casablanca on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The fixture forms part of the team's build-up to the 14th edition of the continental championship, which kicks off in Morocco on Sunday. The nine-time African champions opened their training camp in Casablanca on Monday as they intensify preparations for the tournament.

By Tuesday afternoon, 10 players had reported to the team's camp at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, while midfielder Toni Payne was expected to arrive on Wednesday after completing her move from Everton Women to Inter Milan Women.

Head Coach Justine Madugu supervised the team's first training session on Tuesday at the Stade El Arbi Zaouli, the same venue that will host Saturday's friendly against Ghana. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Among the early arrivals in camp are captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Fatima Oloko, defenders Oluwatosin Demehin, Glory Ogbonna, Shukurat Oladipo and Rofiat Imuran, midfielder Jennifer Echegini, and forward Asisat Oshoala.

The meeting with Ghana rekindles one of Africa's biggest women's football rivalries. The Black Queens were runners-up to Nigeria in the inaugural Women's Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Nigeria in 1998.

Nigeria will begin their Group C campaign against Malawi on July 28 in Rabat before taking on Zambia on August 1 and Egypt on August 5 as they seek to reclaim the continental title.

The tournament also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically, while the fifth-placed team will progress to an intercontinental playoff for a final qualification opportunity.

Group A (Rabat): Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Kenya.

Group B (Casablanca): South Africa, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Tanzania.

Group C (Rabat): Nigeria, Zambia, Egypt, Malawi.

Group D (Casablanca): Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, Cape Verde.
