Super Falcons Veteran Defender Ohale Analyses Game Approach For Australia

Following the stalemate in the game against Canada, Super Falcons veteran defender, Osinachi Marvis Ohale analysed what went wrong in the opener, and how the team can best approach the upcoming group stage fixtures, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

While speaking to NFF TV, in a post-match reaction, the 31-year-old defender gave reasons why the team laboured to gain one point from the encounter. 

"We knew it was going to be difficult, and it was but we were prepared. From the first minute it was difficult for us to get our rhythm and we dropped deeper than we should and we got punished for it a little bit." 

Although, the Super Falcons faced a formidable opposition in Canada Women who are Olympic champions and 7th best team in World women's football according to FIFA, Ohale rued the chances missed by the team during the game. 

"It was a really tight game, and we should have gotten maximum points, but we need to work on utilising our chances.

"It's our first game, and outcomes like the draw are bound to happen, but we have to go back and work on utilising our chances because that is going to be crucial in the next games.

"It's football it's not like we did something wrong or right, we just have to see the game again, and highlight the lapses and improve our approach.

"We know we are not out, we still have two important games to play and work towards and we would take it one game at a time. It's a football game, it is not appropriate to write yourself or your team off," she added.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria has one point from the first game and sit third in Group B, with six more points to play for against Australia on Thursday 27th, and the Republic of Ireland on Monday 31st July 2023, with both games scheduled for 11 am Nigerian time.
