Super League: CAF Announce Kickoff Date, Total Prize Money

African soccer ruling body has finally announced the kickoff date and total prize money of the proposed CAF Super Lague, BSNsports.com.ng understands.

The competition was first proposed in Europe but failed to see the light of the day due to the strong opposition from UEFA and its member association.

CAF under Patrice Motsepe embraced the idea and accepted it as one of their tournament in 2021 but was unable to organize the inaugural edition that year due to the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

The Motsepe-led Executive Committee of the body held its meeting in Morocco on Sunday afternoon and decided finally on the competition.

Motsepe announced August 2023 as the kickoff date for the tournament and $100 million as the total prize money.

How the participating teams will be selected is yet to be decided.
