TICO/Select Pre-season: FC One Rocket Was Good Test Game For Rivers United -Eguma

Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma has expressed confidence over the team's performance after their 2-2 draw against NNL side FC One Rocket, in the ongoing TICO/Select Pre-season tournament, at the Uyo Township Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
While speaking with the journalists shortly after the game, Eguma revealed that the opponent showed character and made it more difficult for the team.
"Yes, it was a good game, and a good test for us, and also for our opponent FC One Rocket, have a very good young team."
"They gave us a hard game, and also showed character because the team was coming from behind at some point in the game."
The gaffer who led the Pride of Rivers to their first league title two years ago, expressed that they were not told to participate in the tournament yesterday after their friendly match against Abia Warriors.
"We're not supposed to participate in this tournament, but we had the opportunity to okay a friendly match against Abia Warriors yesterday. And then we were asked to prepare for this game, so we had to play, He explained.
"However, we are still preparing for our CAF Confederation Cup, because we know that our opponent played in the first round and qualified."
" They've match fitness and are already faced the toughness of the competition so far, but that won't affect us because we know what it takes to be in this competition, and we are working towards it and I believe by the end of the day, we would be able to give the amount of ourselves and to represent the country well."
Eguma, who will be going into the 2023/24 NPFL season as one of the well-experienced coaches, says that he is looking for a brighter season for the team.
" Yes, We are looking up to a brighter season, because two seasons ago we were champions of the league, and last season we couldn't defend our title."
" But for this season, we are going to work hard to be one of the contenders of the league. So we have a big task ahead of us, and I believe we are going to achieve our targets," he concludes.
