TIG Gymnastics Pays Condolence Visit To British High Commission Abuja

The Chief Executive Officer, TIG Gymnastics, Coach Tony Asuquo led award winning gymnasts and parents to a condolence visit to the British High Commissioner, Catriona Laing in Abuja on Friday. The visit was necessary following the passing of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the international and national laurels won by the Club, Tony International Gymnastics (TIG), no doubt is the best Gymnastics club in Nigeria.

Tony who was in the company of some atheletes and parents of the gymnasts signed the condolence register at the home of British High Commissioner in Maitama, Abuja.

"Queen Elizabeth served her people well for close to 70 years and lived an exemplary life with utmost grace, elegance and dignity. She will be remembered for her exceptional leadership," Coach Tony said.

The British High Commissioner, Catriona Laing also spoke of the Queen's humorous nature and her life of service to humanity.

"She was one who cared for people and always looked after the wellbeing of others."

Tony was accompanied by Chiwendu Okpanku, Francisca Okpanku, Shemilore ADEOYE, Axelle Ochacho, Gbemisola Dotun, Juchebe Ibrahim, Niyi Busari, Adeela Adedeji

Davina, Nathan Briggs, Mrs Onusiruka, Mrs Ibrahim and Mr Dotun.

Over the years TIG Gymnastics has been responsible for harnessing gymnastics talent from grassroots to competitive levels of the sport, Notably are Uche Eke who was the first Nigerian gymnast to ever compete at the Olympics (Tokyo 2020) and the kid sensation Stephanie Onisiruka who is currently the number one female gymnast in the country currently.

TIG Gymnastics have also been a voice for Nigerian gymnastics on the international scene by consistently competing in International club championships in South Africa, Singapore, USA and Seychelles and winning medals in these events.

An example is the just concluded South Africa club championship in which TIG Gymnastics took part and Won 5 gold, 2 Silvers and 1 bronze medals.
