The Tony Asuquo's Gymnastics Talent Hunts Competition will commence on April 2 in Abuja.

Tony International Gymnastics (TIG) founder, Tony Asuquo, says his organization will sponsor more competitions to discover talented young gymnasts in the country.

Asuquo had this to say at a training session for TIG athletes on Friday in Abuja.

He reiterated his plans to use TIG to discover and develop grassroots talent in gymnastics across the country.

“Raw talent can be discovered in competitions, and we are committed to exploring this window.

“We are collaborating with the French School International to run a one-day gymnastics talent search and competition for children between the ages of three and 12,” she said.

Asuqou said that the competition to be held in the male and female categories will reveal great talents.

”The competition will bring together children from public and private schools in Abuja on April 2.

“The championship is expected to start with 15 gymnasts from each school, we hope that many schools will participate,” he said.

TIG’s founder said the essence of the competition was to discover promising young gymnasts who would fly the nation’s flag in the future.

“When you catch them young, it’s easier to give them quality training and prepare them for stardom.

“We need to prepare people to take over from those who are already aging, that is our mission,” he said.
