Barely 10 days to the start of the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Confederation of African Football( CAF) has unveiled the official mascot for the tournament, BSNsports.com.ng reports.
Nigeria's Super Falcons is among the 12 countries that have qualified for the biennial competition.
The football body on Wednesday named TITRIT as the official Mascot for the tournament.
"TITRIT is a Moroccan Berber name which means “star" or “celebrity" and which characterizes a proud, dignified, rigorous and determined person."
Naturally dressed in the colours of the Moroccan home team, a traditional Moroccan jewel in the form of a tiara regally adorns the head of the lioness.
Combining authenticity and modernity TITRIT’s Moroccan jewellery and traditional Selham cape gives her a certain feminine majesty.
But the football boots on her feet ensures there’s no mistaking she’s here to play and ready to contribute to the festive atmosphere of WAFCON in the proud North African host country.
Her raised fist symbolizes the determination and tenacity shown by women's footballers facing their opponents, qualities that will be needed for the titanic battles that lie in wait at WAFCON 2022.
The 2022 AWCON takes place from 2 – 23 July in the host cities of Rabat and Casablanca.
