Team Nigeria Crowned CAA Regional Champions

Team Nigeria has successfully retained the CAA Region 2 Championship title, finishing atop the medal table after two days of intense competition at the University of Ghana Sports Complex, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

On the final day, Prestina Ochonogor spearheaded Nigeria’s dominance in the field events, clinching gold in the women’s Long Jump with a Season’s Best of 6.76m.

The leap surpassed her previous best this year of 6.71m achieved at the African U20 Championships in Abeokuta.

Her lifetime best remains 6.79m. In the men’s Javelin, Samuel Adams Kure emerged champion with a winning throw of 73.54m, the only effort over 70m.

Burkina Faso’s Daouda Coulibaly claimed silver with 65.49m, while Ghana’s Gabriel Teye settled for bronze with 64.08m.

Nigeria also underlined its superiority on the track, storming to victory in the Mixed 4x400m relay with a Season’s Best time of 3:15.63 nearly 10 seconds ahead of hosts Ghana, who placed second in 3:25.30. Burkina Faso completed the podium in third with 3:31.09.
