Nigeria's Tejiri Godwin has secured a place in the men's 100m semifinal at the ongoing World U20 Championships in Eugene after an impressive performance in the heats, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Godwin clocked 10.39 seconds to finish second in his heat, narrowly missing out on first place to Great Britain's Jake Odey-Jordan, who won the race in 10.38 seconds.

The Nigerian sprinter's qualification keeps the country's hopes alive in the men's sprint event as he now looks to book a place in the final with another strong showing in the semifinal.
