Bayer Leverkusen star player Nathan Tella is eager to rejoin the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the upcoming international games, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former Southampton player made his debut for the Super Eagles during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

He has been out of the team since due to injury and loss of form. After the completion of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier, the next agenda for Nigeria is the resumption of the World Cup qualifier in March 2025.

While speaking to Oma Sports TV, Tella believes his consistent performance for the German Bundesliga champions would earn him a return to the team.

"Of course, it’s an honour to represent your country, but I have to play here more to get the recognition to play with the country,” he told OmaSports TV.

“I think it’s all about the right steps: keep getting better, keep improving and if I continue to do the right things, I hope Nigeria will call me back.”
