Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nathan Tella is aiming for a return to the Super Eagles under new coach Eric Sekou Chelle, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former Burnley player made his debut in the World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Since then, Tella has struggled with injuries and form, causing him to be in and out of the squad.

Speaking with OmaSports, Tella expressed his determination to work hard for a spot in the team.

"Whether I deserve a call-up or not is not for me to decide," said the 25-year-old, who recently scored against Sparta Prague.

"I’ve never been one to claim I should be called up; I have to work hard and earn my chance. If the new coach believes I’ve done enough, I’ll happily accept the call-up. If not, I’ll keep pushing even harder."

“It’s an honour to represent your country, and every opportunity I get, I’ll give 100 percent. Hopefully, my efforts will earn me the recognition back home.”

This season, Tella has scored three goals and provided three assists in 25 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions.
