Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Tems made history on Saturday night as the first African artist to headline the halftime show at the FIFA Club World Cup final, held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter delivered a dynamic performance alongside global music stars Doja Cat and J Balvin. The show was curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and strategically staged above the stadium stands to protect the pitch.

Tems’ groundbreaking appearance marked the first time a Nigerian artist has taken center stage at the FIFA Club World Cup, underscoring her growing influence in the global music scene.

The historic moment was witnessed by a high-profile audience, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, who was in attendance.

Her performance capped off an already momentous year, following her Grammy win and rising global acclaim. Tems has also expanded her footprint in the world of sports, recently acquiring a stake in Major League Soccer’s newest franchise, San Diego FC.

On the pitch, Chelsea emerged victorious in the final, defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 with two goals from Cole Palmer and one from João Pedro.

Tems’ halftime appearance not only celebrated African excellence on a global stage but also highlighted the growing intersection of music, culture, and sport.
