Tensions Linger As Morocco Responds To Controversial CAF Verdict

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has formally acknowledged the ruling issued by the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football, following a contentious dispute linked to the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the federation emphasized that its appeal was not intended to challenge the sporting merit or performance of any participating team, but rather to ensure the proper application and enforcement of competition regulations.

“The Federation reiterates that its approach has always been grounded in respect for the rules, the clarity of the competitive framework, and the stability of African competitions,” the statement said.

The FRMF also took the opportunity to commend all nations involved in this year’s AFCON, describing the tournament as a significant moment for African football, both competitively and organizationally.

While the federation stopped short of detailing its next steps, it confirmed that a more comprehensive official statement will be issued following a meeting of its governing bodies scheduled for Wednesday. The forthcoming communication is expected to clarify Morocco’s position on the ruling and outline any potential legal or administrative actions.
