Total Dominance: Nigeria Clinch Double Titles At Africa Championship

Nigeria’s dominance in youth handball was emphatically reaffirmed on Saturday as the country secured a historic double triumph at the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase in Lomé, Lomé, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The national Under-18 team delivered a commanding performance in the final, defeating Ivory Coast 32–19 to claim the title. Displaying tactical discipline and attacking efficiency, the Nigerian side controlled the match from the outset and never relinquished their grip, reinforcing their status as one of the region’s rising forces in youth handball.
Nigeria’s Under-20 team followed suit with an equally impressive showing, overcoming Benin Republic 39–29 in the final. Their fluid attacking play and clinical finishing proved decisive, as they secured a comfortable victory to complete a remarkable double for the country.
With both teams crowned champions in their respective categories, Nigeria has underlined its growing strength in the sport at the developmental level. The victories also guarantee qualification for the continental stage, where the teams will compete against Africa’s top youth sides.
The achievement reflects sustained efforts to strengthen grassroots handball development, in line with broader objectives set by the National Sports Commission.
