Tottenham Pulls Plug On Lookman Transfer
Ibrahim Lateef
Tottenham is closely monitoring Ademola Lookman's situation as the January transfer window approaches, yet it's clear that the club's shortlist for a new winger has elevated to include two 'dream names' who are a considerable upgrade over the Atalanta forward, BSNSports.com.ng has sourced.
Spurs demonstrated solid interest in signing the Nigerian striker last summer, submitting a loan offer that Atalanta ultimately rejected in favour of a permanent deal.
Since then, Lookman's future has become increasingly precarious, with strong links to a transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray.
While Tottenham's interest in the former Fulham and Everton winger has diminished, the club is now aiming for higher-calibre signings across both transfer windows in 2026.
Intermediaries have made their conditions known, should Spurs decide to reignite their pursuit. Galatasaray is actively working towards a January deal for Lookman, who has recently found his form again.
However, Tottenham is likely to hold out and pursue a more ambitious target, with names like Rodrygo from Real Madrid and Kenan Yildiz of Juventus emerging as desirable options in the club's freshly minted shortlist.
Rodrygo was already on Spurs' radar last summer, but Real Madrid was determined to keep the talented attacker as Xabi Alonso evaluated his squad after taking over at The Bernabeu.
The 24-year-old Brazil international remains linked with a potential exit, particularly following an impressive display against Manchester in the Champions League this week.
