Transfer: Nigerian Star Joins English League One Club

Nigeria and Brentford FC B attacker Michael Olakigbe has joined English League One Club Wigan Athletic on loan, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut for the Bees during the just-concluded season against Bournemouth.

He made a total. of 12 appearances in all competitions for the first team including a start against Newport County in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Olakigbe signed a 5-year extension with the club last November but has to move out on loan to get more playing time.

" Brentford B forward Michael Olakigbe has joined League One side Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2024/2025 season, subject to EFL, FA and Premier League approval", the club said.

Olakigbe was born in England to Nigerian parents which made him eligible to represent both countries in future.
