Transfer Update: Aribo Set For Southampton Departure In January

Sky Bet Championship side Southampton are preparing to part ways with Nigerian international Joe Aribo when the January transfer window opens, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 27-year-old midfielder has just six months remaining on his contract, meaning he will be eligible to begin negotiations with foreign clubs from next month.

However, Southampton are not willing to risk losing him for free and are actively pushing for a sale in January.

According to Saints News, Turkish Super Lig clubs Göztepe and Trabzonspor have shown strong interest in securing the services of the former Rangers star.

Southampton are reportedly demanding a transfer fee in the region of €1.5 million from any interested parties.

Aribo has found game time hard to come by this season, managing only six appearances across competitions, a situation that has contributed to plans for his exit.

The midfielder joined the Saints from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers in 2022, but has struggled to cement a regular starting role at St Mary’s.
