Transfer Update: Egypt's Modern Sport Secures Nigerian Forward

Egyptian Premier League outfit, Modern Sport, has completed the signing of Nigerian attacker Godwin Okwara, also known as Godwin Chika, as part of their squad overhaul ahead of the 2025/26 season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Okwara joins from fellow Egyptian side Tala'ea El-Gaish, where he featured in 23 matches last season, scoring 8 goals and providing 1 assist.

The experienced striker has had spells across various leagues, including stints with ES Sétif (Algeria), Al-Taawoun (Libya), Al-Shorta (Iraq), and Nigeria’s Rivers United.

He becomes Modern Sport’s seventh acquisition in the ongoing summer transfer window, as the club looks to recover from a tough 2024/25 campaign that saw them struggle to avoid relegation.

The latest signings underscore the club’s determination to mount a more competitive performance in the upcoming season.
