With just 48 hours remaining in the winter transfer window, Everton FC has entered the race to sign Nigeria international and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 27-year-old forward has faced limited playing time this season, finding himself behind Chris Wood in the club's striker hierarchy.

His situation follows an injury to Mikail Antonio, which prompted initial interest from West Ham United. Despite his reduced role, Awoniyi has expressed a desire to stay at Nottingham Forest.

However, Everton is reportedly considering a late move for the former Union Berlin striker, as they look to bolster their attack.

The Toffees are believed to have earmarked Awoniyi as one of several targets, with a £33.5 million budget allocated for two new signings.
