Transfer Update: Fenerbahçe Left Frustrated as Lookman Chooses Atlético Madrid

Fenerbahçe have expressed deep frustration over the manner in which Atalanta handled negotiations surrounding Nigerian international Ademola Lookman, following his decision to move to Atlético Madrid, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Sources close to the talks reveal that the Turkish giants were fully aware of Atalanta’s strong working relationship with Atlético, recently underlined by deals involving Matteo Ruggeri and Giacomo Raspadori. 

However, Fenerbahçe believe they met all necessary conditions to secure Lookman’s signature, including providing solid financial guarantees and meeting Atalanta’s valuation.

Despite their efforts, Fenerbahçe feel the process was heavily influenced in favour of the Spanish club, with significant pressure placed on Lookman to opt for a move to La Liga instead of Istanbul. 

Club officials are said to be particularly disappointed by what they perceive as a lack of transparency in the negotiations.

The situation has left Fenerbahçe disillusioned, as they had considered Lookman a key transfer target for the window, only to see the deal collapse in favour of Atlético Madrid, who ultimately won the race for the Super Eagles forward.
